This curated selection includes some of the best spiritual books of all time. These books are super powerful. At least in my experience.
Each one of these has greatly improved the quality of my life, either bringing in major abundance and joy or teaching me spiritual laws that have turned me into a manifesting queen.
I love spirituality. I love books. I especially love books on spirituality. Hands down my favorite topic…even more than true crime. Odd combo but I like what I like.🤷🏽♀️
I am not exaggerating when I say that I was reading Catherine Ponder’s Dynamic Laws of Prosperity as a child… for fun!
My mom was a voracious reader and I grew up in a house surrounded by books. My bedroom basically doubled as her extended library. Even in high school, after finishing cheering at a football game, I’d ditch the post-party in favor of hanging out in the New Age aisle at Border’s Books.
These spiritual books are the ones I return to year after year. I hope you find a new one and give it a whirl.
Nine of The Best Spiritual Books of All Time
Nine of The Best Spiritual Books of All Time
1. The Astonishing Power of Emotions
I’m currently re-reading this book for the umpteenth time. If you haven’t heard of Abraham Hicks before then I would probably suggest starting with Ask and It Is Given. But if you’re well versed or just super interested in universal laws then this book is ahhmahhhzing. I won’t give it away but it basically explains the relationship between man and God in such a succinct way by focusing on how big a role our sixth sense of emotion plays in being able to hook up to that Source Energy anytime we want. If you want to know what your emotions mean and how to be happier, I highly recommend this book. I love!!
2. The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity
This book is by new thought minister Edwene Gaines and she is a hoot! I recommend this one on audiobook. You get to hear her read it in a thick southern accent and her stories are hilarious. This isn’t run-of-the-mill type prosperity advice either. Law number three is all about forgiveness and her advice opens up the abundance doors big-time. I feel like this one flies under the radar of most people’s best spiritual books of all time list but it definitely belongs on mine. It’s such an uplifting and inspiring book on everything from discovering your life’s purpose to goal-setting.
3. Dying To Be Me
I’ve never read anything like Anita Moorjani’s TRUE story. It’s full-on miraculous. At age42 she discovers she has an aggressive, advanced and severe form of cancer and absolutely zero chance of recovery. While in a coma at the hospital and on her last breath, she has a near-death experience but regains consciousness and within weeks is released… completely… HEALED! I recommend this one as an audiobook.I so loved hearing the author tell her story. She comes back with some incredible messages from “the other side” after her near-death experience. Definitely worth reading.
4. Loving What Is
I remember where I was when I first heard about The Work it was that impactful. 2010, lying in bed, reading a short article in O Magazine on some lady I’d never heard of named Byron Katie. It glossed over the four questions and my mind was blown! The Work is a simple process to question any thoughts that cause stress. This book is like a meditation and goes in depth with examples of people doing the work with Katie. The other thing I love is that absolutely everything you need to do the work is free online at www.thework.com.
5. The Alchemist
Chances are you’ve read this book. And if you haven’t, get it right this second and start now. This is the only fiction story on the list and it’s a page-turner. A simple fable all about following your heart. It’s uplifting and inspiring and everyone should read this book at least once.
6. Courage: The Joy of Living Dangerously
Long before Netflix made a series on him, Osho has been one of my all-time favorite spiritual writers. If you can get past the scandalous story and give any of his books a read, you’ll see what I mean. This book makes you feel like you can do anything. If you ever feel a little hesitant or like you’re holding yourself back, this book will make you wanna live out loud. Fearlessly. One of my favorite quotes from one of my other favorite books is “the place isn’t the prison the perspective is” and this one is a perspective shifter. Best book for relieving small-minded fears and anxieties.
7. You Can Heal Your Life
I consider this a must-have in every household. In my mid-twenties, I did all the exercises in Louise Hay’s book and everyone in my life could see the shift that happened. One of the first things she has you do is stop all self-criticism. I’d also write out her affirmations for different ailments and give them to family members as prescriptions whether they wanted them or not, (ha!). My dad was scheduled to have prostate surgery and I taped up Louise Hay’s affirmation for prostate by his bedside and under his pillow and asked him to say it every morning. Later that month when he went in for pre-op check-in they found the surgery unnecessary. He couldn’t believe it. Affirmations are powerful!
8. Alcoholics Anonymous: The Big Book
This is a spiritual book for a spiritual program. And ya know what. You don’t have to be an alcoholic to reap major benefits. The 12 steps are a spiritual program originally founded in the 1930’s to help hopeless alcoholics stop drinking when all else has failed. Now, over the last several decades, the 12 steps are used in over 200 programs to treat any addiction or compulsive behavior. Why so many groups? Because these 12 steps work! If you are looking for a spiritual practice, way of life or a total overhaul, this book belongs on your shelf.
9. As A Man Thinketh
This book is only nine pennies on Amazon kindle. But you can usually find a copy at a used bookstore if you want to shop local. As A Man Thinketh was first published in 1903! Honestly, I struggled with what to choose as my final selection for the best spiritual books of all time but this one is short and sweet and can really get your mindset on the right track if you’re ever feeling down or struggling with a specific problem. It’s a great bedside book to keep you focused on how powerful our minds are. It’s a super quick read and the nuggets in here are pure gold!
There ya have it! Thanks for checking out my list of the best spiritual books of all time.
